Day 2 (B,D) | GEORGETOWN Transfer to the Essequibo River for a boat trip to the Shanklands Rainforest Resort, which is a series of cottages built on a hill on the river’s right bank and overlooking its enormous breadth. The resort is cared from the tropical rainforest on a majestic cliff overlooking the silver water of Guyana’s largest river, the Essequibo. White colonial style gingerbread cottages are amidst 25 acres of rolling lawns with views of the Essequibo and Mazaruni Rivers and the gold mining town of Bartica. Overnight at the Shanklands Rainforest Resort. |

PARAMARIBO Full day River Cruise on the Suriname River. The river on which you sail your ship is the lifeline of Suriname. From the deck you will have a good view of the unique vegetation along the banks of the Suriname River. The mangrove forests are inhabited by a multitude of birds, including the exceptional Red Ibis. From the sundeck you are allowed a rare view of Paramaribo as well, with its centuries old wooden buildings and typical almond trees along the Waterkant. In the meantime, the cook will be preparing an unforgettable Surinamese lunch. Depending on the tide, the trip will go north to Braamspunt, a shell beach at the mouth of the Suriname River, where it is good bathing and walking, or where you can just enjoy the sound of the sea wind. Or the trip will sail to the south past Paranam, where the Bauxite, Alumina and aluminum are loaded for export. |

Place de Grenoble with its old whitewashed Governor's mansion and post office, Also visit the old part of town "La Crique." |

CAYENNE Full day river tour with Creole lunch to Creek Gabrielle at Four Gassie Falls. Located on the Comte River above Stoupan, at 20 kms from Cayenne. Gabrielle creek (a stream) is a good example of Amazonian forest scenery. You'll admire beautiful butterflies and the canoe trip enables you to be in close contact with this tropical world. You'll eat a tasty local meal at Fourgassier. In the afternoon there you can bathe in the waterfalls of Fourgassier. An ecological trip in a green landscape. |

CAYENNE Full day Devil's Island. Full day visit to the Islands of Salvation, a trio of Islands (Royal, St. Joseph and Devil's). The name originated when settlers fled the mainland to take refuge from the disease - ridden jungle. In Royale visit the commandant's house and the houses of the prison staff. Take a motor launch to Devil's Island, which now contains the ruins of 13 cottages once used for political prisoners. |
